We connect young people that are new to Australia in Melbourne with their community through the local music scene.
For young migrants in Melbourne to settle in quickly, make new mates and enjoy living in their new city. It is as simple as that. Melbourne has a great music community, with fantastic artists and gigs every night of the week so it is the perfect way to get to know the city, meet new people and have a really great time.
We have had great support from the Australian music scene with tickets donated from well known artists such as Clare Bowditch, Josh Pyke, Bob Evans and The Waifs. We are really grateful to the musicians that support the project and make it possible.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Musicians donate tickets to gigs and festivals which we use to take small groups of people, a mix of new migrants and established Australians, along to. Each group will attend 3 or 4 gigs together, so that they get to know one another and have the opportunity to experience just how great the Melbourne music scene is.
HOW CAN WE GET INVOLVED?
If you are new to Australia, living in Melbourne and would like to get involved please send us an email explaining why you would like to be a part of the project. Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 30 years old with the intention of staying in Australia for the long term. Unfortunately working holiday visa holders are ineligible, given the temporary nature of their stay.
We are also looking for established Australians between the ages of 18 and 30 years old that want to help new arrivals settle in to their new life in Australia and make new mates. Send us an email explaining why you think you would be a good fit for the program and when we need people we will be in touch. Thanks!
